A world’s first. Infinite-mix is a new sonic format – a continuously generating real-time stream of music; an infinitely extended remix generated using quantum AI. Trained on music composed by artist ILĀ, RECURSE [infinite mix] represents an artist-first approach to generative AI creativity, contrasting autonomous music gen AI platforms on the market today.
RECURSE began in the studio, where original musical sequences composed by ILĀ laid the foundation for a set of quantum AI models trained by MOTH*. In collaboration with the artist, these sequence patterns were then run on an IQM Quantum Computer. These sequences were applied to recombined audio segments and returned to ILĀ, from which the final tracks were developed into the single RECURSE and the RECURSE [infinite mix].
* No external data, private or public, was used to train the quantum AI models. The RECURSE [infinite mix] is a unique generative work, and the artist retains all rights to the music and the underlying data.
RECURSE [infinite mix] is powered by MOTH’s flagship quantum software platform Archaeo, which combines quantum and classical hybrid computing to unlock new creative possibilities. Archaeo quantum software addresses major limitations in current procedural content and AI generation tools—including lack of transparency, generic outputs, high costs, and IP risks—by integrating quantum computing to boost algorithm expressivity and contextual depth.
Archaeo is a new kind of quantum engine that enables artists to create and explore new forms of generative content on actual quantum computers such as the IQM Quantum Computer used in the RECURSE project. ILĀ* is a multidisciplinary transgender mixed-race artist, producer, and creative director. As co-founder of London Contemporary Voices and Trans Voices—the UK’s first professional trans+ choir—ILĀ has worked with over 20 Grammy-winning artists, including Alt-J, Imogen Heap, and U2, and contributed to the BBC Proms, Harry Potter soundtrack, and fashion shows for Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger. A member of Icelandic band Hrím, ILĀ’s debut album Mesonoxian and immersive films like Daffodil (NOWNESS) explore themes of AI, grief, and consciousness.
Their work spans AI music research, VR, and space missions, and they hold advisory roles with the Ivor Academy, Brian Eno’s Earth/Percent, and Redcliffe Advisory. ILĀ has spoken at Oxford, Berlin University of the Arts, and the World Economic Forum, pioneering “Quantum Computer Music” showcased internationally.
